IS AMD Ryzen 5 7600X the best processor for a gaming computer in Indian Market?
AMD launched its Ryzen 7000 series processors in October 2022 to much acclaim. With its Ryzen 7000 series, AMD has finally diverted from its pin-based architecture to a pin-less one, helping the processor push better performance than the previous generations. AMD released AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, and AMD Ryzen 9 7950X. Each processor has been targeted to a different segment and the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X is the newest entry-level processor for DDR5 systems offered by AMD.
It has been close to 6 months, so let’s look at how it’s performing in the Indian market? Is it worthwhile right now to switch to the 7000 series if you are building a gaming computer in India?
AMD released the Ryzen 5 7600X in replacement of its predecessor, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, which was hugely successful and is still in high demand. But with Ryzen 5 7600X at your doorstep, would you still prefer 5600X? Let’s look at what AMD has to offer with its 7600X processor.
Coming in at a price point of ₹ 22,066/-, AMD Ryzen 5 7600X offers a base clock speed of 4.7 GHz and a max boost clock speed (meaning you can overclock it) of 5.3 GHz. Comes with an L2 Cache of 6MB, an L3 Cache of 32MB, and support for DDR5 Memory and PCIe 5.0 X 28 (lanes). Consisting of 6 cores and 12 threads and a default TDP (power requirement) of 105W, it has been designed for the new AM5 Socket, supported by X670 and B650 chipsets. Although the max memory speed supported by the processor is DDR5-5200MHz on books, several reports suggest that it can reach speeds up to DDR5-6000Mhz.
PROS
- High Clock Speed
- Overclockable
- PCIe Gen 5 support
- DDR5 Memory Ready
- More Cache memory
- Great For gaming at 1080p
CONS
- Pricing
- Need New Motherboard
- Need DDR5 RAM Specifically
- No Stock Cooler
- Need a good cooling solution
Let’s look at how it performs in our games – that is what we care about, right?
Besides the Ryzen 5 7600X processor, we also used MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti BLACK TRIO 24GB GDDR6X Graphic Card, MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WI-FI, 2x16GB DDR5 Corsair Vengeance 5200MHz Kit. It was being water-cooled by Cooler Master ML360 Illusion.
Watchdogs Legion
At 1080p on very high, it gave an average of 143 FPS, beating the older Ryzen 5 5600X by a considerable margin, with FPS ranging about 119. At this time, the only Intel processor to come close to it was Intel I5 12600K. Considering that it this a year-old processor at 139 FPS, it is still selling higher at ₹ 27,300/- than the new AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor.
Hitman 3
At 1080p on high settings, this will make all intel alder lake users cringe. It matched the Intel Core I9 12900K’s FPS of 221. This processor costs ₹ 45,300/- in the Indian market. To defeat this was a surprise.
F1 2022
At 1080p on high settings, it provided a 325 FPS compared to the Intel Core I9 12900K’s FPS of 302. It looks pretty good for AMD for the time being. If a mid-range processor can beat a high-priced processor, it deserves a clap on the back.
Spiderman Remastered
At 1080p on performance mode, It provided an average of 115 FPS and we were happy with its performance compared to the I5 12600K giving 109 FPS, and Ryzen 5 5600X a measly 91 FPS.
Cyberpunk 2077
At 1080p on high settings with ray tracing enabled, we managed to get 139 FPS. We expected it to take the hit, but it didn’t, and that was a welcome surprise. The Intel I5 12600K also reached nearly the same at 137 FPS.
Call Of Duty Vanguard
At 1440p on ultra settings, It provided a consistent FPS of 210.
God Of War
At 1440p on ultra settings, It provided a consistent FPS of 122.
Battlefeild 2042
At 1440p on ultra settings, It provided a consistent FPS of 156.
Forza Horizon 5
At 1080p on ultra settings, It provided a consistent FPS of 126 but was beaten by Intel I5 12600K giving 130 FPS. The surprise was Ryzne 5 5600X giving 122 FPS.
Resident Evil Village
At 1440p on ultra settings, It provided a consistent FPS of 204
Read Dead Redemption 2
At 1440p on ultra settings, It provided a consistent FPS of 96 and
CSGO
At 1080p high settings, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X dished out a whopping 998 FPS on average, followed by AMD Ryzen 5 5600X giving an average of 734 FPS, and at last the Intel I5 12600K at 710 FPS.
Valorant
At 1080p high settings, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X FPS was 624 on average, followed by AMD Ryzen 5 5600X giving an average of 502 FPS, and yet again at last the Intel I5 12600K with 482 FPS.
Fortnite
At 1080p performance mode, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X beat the Intel I5 12600K with a considerable margin at 503 FPS compared to 468 FPS. The Ryzen 5 5600X reached 427 FPS
Horizon Zero Dawn
At 1080p on ultra settings, It provided a consistent FPS of 172 but was nearly beaten by Intel I5 12600K at 170 FPS. The surprise was Ryzen 5 5600X reached up to 154 FPS.

So, in summary AMD has delivered a great CPU in the shape on AMD Ryzen 5 7600X and it looks like the departure from pin-based processors to pin-less processor might actually be working in it’s favor.
With 7600X we had a great gaming experience, and we would recommend anyone who is making a new system to go for it. But for someone who already has a system, if you want to upgrade only the processor, we suggest you go for some other option as you might have to buy an additional motherboard, DDR5 RAM sticks, and a PSU. It becomes a considerable investment especially when we expect pricing to fall even more now.
